Up for auction is a genuine 2014 Fender 1959 Telecaster Journeyman Relic electric guitar. Made by the Fender Custom Shop in the U.S.A. this model is as as close as you can get to a real 1959 Telecaster without spending $30,000. I've been playing guitar for nearly 50 years and have owned numerous original 1950s and early 1960s Fender guitars. I am also a complete, anal fanatic about my guitars. They must be perfect in every way! This guitar plays better than my original 1959 and 1962 Slab board Telecasters, looks very much the same and sounds as good. It features a dark rosewood "slab board" fingerboard, gorgeous tiger stripe grain maple neck and grainy ash body with luscious blonde finish. A very comfortable weight too...very resonant wood. Fender ages the guitar to look like a 60 year old original. Completing the package is a mint condition brown hardshell case and "case candy" (never removed from the plastic shipping bags). The guitar is in excellent cosmetic and perfect playing condition, never out of my carpeted home studio. It plays like butter, one of the best playing Fender guitars I've ever played. The action is very low and the frets are perfect. The back of the neck is like glass. I hate the feel of raw wood against my thumb (Fender sands away some of the finish on the back of the neck on relic models at the factory to make it look old) so I had Paul McKenzie from famed Fiesta Finishes in Berkeley, CA finish the back of the neck in perfectly matched gold-tone nitro lacquer. I upgraded the pickups to a Seymour Duncan Broadcaster set. Fat, juicy tones and still plenty of spank! The guitar comes with the original Fender Custom Shop Certificate of Authenticity (COA). So why am I selling such a fine axe? Simple, I have other guitars and just don't play the Telecaster enough to justify owning it. It needs to go to another guitarist who will play the heck out of it! I have priced this guitar well below its true value to generate interest and bids. NO RESERVE!! These guitars are expensive new (well over $3,000).
