Description
Vintage 1963 Fender 5F1 Tweed ChampThis Vintage 1963 Fender Champ was going to be one of my "keepers". If you've been following my auctions, you know I have been selling my collection of dozens of Champs. When I decided to sell my collection of 20-30 Tweed Champs, I put a half dozen away to keep. I've now decided to sell a few. I bought this particular one from the original owner over 40 years ago. You can be literally the 3rd owner. Never passed around, never dicked with. Amazing shape, like out of a Time Machine. The only real flaw is the 1st owner felt inclined to put his name on the side, only slightly visible. The serial number is C18236. This again is one of the best sounding ones that I've owned. It also is incredibly clean and original. It has a clear sparkly clean and when you turn up the volume control, it just barks. Aggressive low end with rock inspired distortion. The speaker code is 137310, indicating a CTS speaker manufactured the 10th week of '63. It has been completely gone over by Mark of Victoria Amps and deemed in great working order. It has all the original caps with date codes showing late 1962 and 1963. The transformers show date codes from the 37th week of 1963 and the 35th week of 1962. Still has the TUBES it was delivered with, a Tung-Sol preamp tube and RCA's. The original Tweed is in marvelous condition with very little fraying. The tweed's clear coat has darkened giving it a great, warm patina. The original handle is in almost new condition. The back panel still has the original asbestos on it. It's screws has seldom been removed, so they are tight as when manufactured. It's got a great vibe, please check the photos. It's easy to see the date codes on the transformers, on the speaker, on the amp. I'm certainly not hiding anything. This is one seriously great sounding, studio quality amp, that's a playable investment. Sure you can spend less, but it would be hard to match the tone. I'd love to keep it, but I'm cleaning house. If you appreciate the best, don't let this one slip past you, it is prime.PayPal only. *********SERIOUS BIDDERS ONLY! Sale is final, BUT YOU’LL BE VERY HAPPY! Check my feedback! Thanks, & happy bidding!
