Description
Original/Reproduction: Original Joe Perry 1970's Amplifier

Original Joe Perry of Aerosmith's Custom 130 Watt Music Man Head, Modified by the late Andy Topeka (a legend in his own right)... And used extensively on tour with Aerosmith thru-out the late 70's and early 80's with The Joe Perry Project. This Extremely Cool Amplifier can be seen on Countless Videos filmed during the late 70's and heard on Aerosmith Live Bootleg & Many other Live Performances of the Era...The History and Origin :You see Joe Perry received several of these Heads from Leo Fender, who had formed his own company after leaving Fender Co... His New Company was Music Man, and Joe got several of the first Music Man heads along with Brad who were both looking for something a little louder and more reliable than the Marshalls that Joe kept blowing up. After receiving the Heads around 1975-76' Joe had Legendary Electronics Wizard  Andy Topeka (now deceased) who had been working With Aerosmith at the time and who had also worked with The Rolling Stones and The Cars, Extensively Modify each Amp for the Tour, Custom Modified Face Plates with the Aerosmith Logo  replaced the Original Tolex, also added were heavy duty fans, and addition of Extensive Eq's that allowed Joe to toggle between four different settings( this was the precursor to modern presets, using only tubes, this was like alien technology during the seventies) they also had Reverb, foot switches and were outfitted with 1/4 inch XLR cables instead of regular guitar cables (Anyone who knows Aerosmith or has worked with them during the 70's knows this Mod). This particular head was designed and used on Sweet Emotion, Walk This Way, and all the songs with Joe's talk box and still has the tape on it designating it Air Bag ( the name Joe calls his talk box )This Amp Reeks of the Period, and has so much Seventies Attitude it's truly Unbelievable( Joe Perry used this head for years) and all the Songs on "Toys In The Attic" and "Rocks" Sound Amazing when played thru this Amp, it is also Amazingly Loud. This Music Relic really belongs with an Artist like Slash or maybe The Music Hall Of Fame... Or a very discerning person who absolutely Appreciates what this is...You can research this amp for yourself online, there are articles on this from the 70's
Guitar.com: What was it like in 1975?Perry: In 1975, we were playing hellbent for leather. I look at the amps I was using, including four Music Man amps at 130 watts with Electro Voice speakers up to 120 db. I could never figure out what it was people were coming to see. We went out there with our attitude and all this energy but we were self-consumed and it showed.Joe Perry Equipment Interview Circa 1978-Joe Perry of Aerosmith discusses his left handed Strat among other gear in a rare 1978 interview conducted by Steven Rosen - rock journalistWhat kind of amplifiers do you use?Music Man. I’m not sure what model I use but we got the first prototypes about three years ago. In fact, I remember coming out of rehearsals for Toys In The Attic, and we went out on the road and got the Music Man amps then. We’ve been reworking them until now. We’ve put a graphic equalizer in the midrange and we have something that will change the amount of top end you want; it’s like a different way of looking at a midrange control. And all the guitars are set up to go in at line level – they all have cannon [balance line] plugs, so you can have 100-foot cords and there’s no noise, none of that radio frequency interference you get with a regular patch cord, although I can plug in with a patch cord if I want. The Grateful Dead used to do it but I don’t know of anybody else who does.**this also includes the Custom Road Case made especially to fit it
