Crane Song HEDD 192This superb Crane Song HEDD (Harmonically Enhanced Digital Device) is for sale for a third time. The first time the winning bidder never made contact or paid, the second time the winning bidder paid and took delivery and discovered that not all the features were working properly so he returned it. I took it to KMR Audio Ltd, Crane Song's UK service centre, and they replaced two components and fully soak tested and checked all its functionality. It is now working exactly as it should. Some information about the unit:It was manufactured in 2009 and can process sample rates of 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4 and 192kHz. It converts in any direction between the following bit rates: 12, 20 and 24 bit.It has two analog ins (XLR) and two analog outs (XLR), word clock in and word clock out. It has AES and S/PDIF digital ins and AES and S/PDIF digital outs. This makes it an extremely powerful and flexible mastering converter and monitoring converter with a superb sound. I used it as the last piece of equipment in my audio chain and am only selling it because I now have a Crane Song Solaris instead (the Solaris has a built in headphone amplifier which I wanted for monitoring). The 24-section meter is also excellent in mastering applications. It has a two-second hold before the peak indicator drops to a lower level and you can reset the meter with a button on the front. Again I relied on this as my main metering tool when mixing and mastering. It also has three highly expressive but musical distortion characteristics that you can dial in wirth the three knobs on the front: TRIODE, PENTODE and TAPE.The three processes interact with each other but in simple terms TRIODE fattens the sound, PENTODE brightens it, TAPE warms and compresses it. These processes are great for warming up/livening up masters, lifting the perceived volume without overloading. They can be switched in and out from the front panel for comparison of the processed and unprocessed audio material.Crane Song give a fuller description on their HEDD manual page.Rear Panel:Analog ins: 2 line level (XLR connector)Analog outs: 2 line level (XLR connector)Digital ins: 1 AES (XLR) 1 S/PDIF (RCA connector)Digital outs: 1 AES (XLR) 1 S/PDIF (RCA connector)Word Clock in and out on BNC connectorsFront panel:Power switch and indicator24 section meter with overload indicatorS/PDIF AES input selector switchMeter reset switchProcessing bypass in/out switchSample rate selector switchTRIODE, PENTODE and TAPE potsPROCESS switch that selects whether the signal processor is attached to the D/A converter, the A/D converter, is configured for digital in - digital out, or analog in - analog out. The HEDD can run at 120v and 240v and at 50 or 60Hz.Any questions please get in touch. Also get in touch if you want to bid but have a feedback score of 10 or less.I am based in Shoreditch/City of London and would prefer cash on collection. This would also give you the chance to check the item over before you take it away.I have set a low starting price and no reserve and no BUY IT NOW price as I let all my auctions run to the end. If you message me asking for a BUY IT NOW price I will politely tell you that I let all my auctions run to the end.I do accept Paypal and ship internationally, but shipping will be at your own risk and I will not accept returns as the unit will be leaving me fully serviced and working. I will pack the box in its original secure packaging and put that box in another box for protection. The winning bidder should please make contact within 48 hours of the auction end and complete payment within a week of the auction end or I reserve the right to sell to the second highest bidder.
