1896 Martin Guitar Size 1 Style 42 Vintage RARE Serial # 8427
I believe 8427 is the stamped serial number - please look closely at photo #2This rare and beautiful gem, made in Nazareth, PA is in VG-Ex condition.The rich inlay and binding on this guitar are gorgeous and only found on higher level Martin's.
At the time this guitar was built, Style 42 was at the top of the Martin line.
It has abalone pearl around the top like previous styles, but also includes the addition of a connecting link of pearl around the fingerboard.
The rosette is also abalone.
The back and sides of the guitar are a brilliantly matched Brazilian rosewood. The bridge is also ebony.
The neck is cedar, and the fretboard is ebony with snowflake inlay.
The back has wood-purfling binding with the center stripe in the Martin "arrowhead" style.
The tuners are also original.There is a hole in the back of the headstock above the C.F. Martin stamp.It has had some repair done in the past to cracks on the top.There are scratches on the top, sides, and back of the guitar that are finish cracks.There is one large crack on the top of guitar that has been repaired.The luthier that appraised this guitar said it could also benefit from a neck reset, but is not required.The guitar is fully playable and in wonderful condition.This guitar does not have a case.$10,000WE HAVE MORE PHOTOS.
