We here at PMT are more than a little excited to be stocking these gorgeous guitars for as long as the stock is available, but hurry: they won't be around forever! Texture & Versatility Baritone guitars, although seemingly rare, appear quite frequently througout contemporary music history - their deep and rich tones are evident in recordings from as early as 1960. They have had a resurgence in popularity in recent years largely down to guitar virtuosos like Andy McKee and John Petrucci, as well as becoming a staple for many metal and alt-rock guitarists who play in lower register tunings but want to eschew the use of 7-strings. The semi-hollow bodied PRS SE 277 is for those Baritone players looking to add that little bit of visual class to their low-tone playing, and at such a reasonable price would be perfect for an experienced guitar player looking to delve into the realm of low-end guitar work. Body Top Wood: Zebrawood Back Wood: Mahogany Body Construction: Chambered with Single F-Hole The body of the PRS SE 277 is of a chambered mahogany construction, delivering a nice warm tone with plenty of sustain, with an increased acoustic resonance and clarity. To finish the body off, PRS included a top made from a beautiful cut of Zebrawood, giving this limited edition PRS SE 277 a truly unique look that any baritone player would be proud to perform with. Neck Number of Frets: 22 Scale Length: 27.7 Neck Wood: Maple Neck Shape: Wide fat Fretboard Wood: RosewoodFretboard Inlay: Birds The Wide Fat mahogany neck on the SE 277 is built for comfort more than speed, and is a nod in the direction of the classic pre-factory production PRS guitars. Because of the strength and longer "heel" inherent in the neck, this particular profile produces nice warm tones with plenty of sustain. Additionally, the neck is topped with a rosewood fretboard and the standard PRS bird inlays. Electronics Treble Pickup: PRS SE Soapbar Bass Pickup: PRS SE Soapbar Controls: Volume and Tone Controls with 3-way Toggle Pickup Switch Strings: 14-68 The PRS SE standard Soapbar P90-style pickups housed in the SE 277 produce a nice array of clean, crisp tones to help you cut through the mix whilst playing sounds somewhere between the Bass and standard Guitar. Both pickups produce a tone somewhere in between a standard single coil and humbucker, and are just as effective with effects and distortion as they are with clean settings, making the SE 277 a super-versatile and fun baritone guitar to play. Other Hardware Bridge: PRS-Designed Plate-Style Bridge, String Through Tuners: PRS-Designed Tuners Hardware Type: Nickel Despite the more-than-palattable price, the SE 277 oozes class from every pore, both looking and sounding like a much more expensive instrument. Everything about this guitar, from the classic stoptail bridge to the PRS signature logo on the headstock, lets you and your audience know that you're playing an instrument of class and quality.
