Description
Country/Region of Manufacture: United States

For sale, one cream-of-the-crop traditional stock circuit JTM 45 (read all details below), made from the best parts available. This would easily be priced used at $1599 at Guitar Center, with the sales-person dropping it to $1300 or $1400 during negotiation or a major sale. Sozo, Sprague Atom, F&T and silver mica capacitors as appropriate for their part in the circuit. Quiet metal film resistors. UK Cliff jacks, CTS potentiometers, heavy gauge wire, top hat diode, Marshall knobs and Magnetic Components transformers. As a traditional stock JTM45, you will not find better. The noise floor is very low and the tone is beautiful as you would expect. This amp also has four cleanly true-bypassed (or not even in the circuit to be bypassed) mods that most will find useful:
A switched internal channel jumper that bridges the channels at the first preamp tube. Saves keeping a 6 inch jumper around. This is not in the circuit when off, as the switch is equivalent to pulling the jumper out of the input jacks.A shared cathode (JTM45 stock) vs. split cathode (Plexi style) switch. Stock JTM45 uses a single bass-heavy cathode for both channels. Later Marshall models use the same bass heavy values for one channel and a higher treble value for the other. This allows both options, and is particularly useful with the internal jumper as it allows you to mix the treble channel with the bass channel as later Plexi users do. This is true-bypass on one channel and not even connected to the other when not in use.A pentode/triode switch. This is more about tone than volume. It allows you to go from stock tone at 30 watts to a different tone that some people prefer at 18 watts. The volume difference is less than you might get by switching from one 12" speaker to another, but the tone difference is noticeable. This is true-bypassed when not in use.External bias contact points and adjustment. This is just extremely convenient if/when you switch tubes. This has no impact on the circuit when not in use.
In the photos you can see that it has a YellowJacket rectifier installed currently. If you prefer a GZ34 instead, I'm happy to swap one in and bias the amp for it. Also happy to bias the amp to your taste before shipping if you like. It is currently biased on the hot side. The 1x12 Cabinet with casters seen in some of the pictures is not included, though I would let it go cheap to the buyer if you want it (I have UK Made Celestion Vintage 30 and Celestion Gold speakers that could be mounted in it.) This cab goes well with the amp, having corners that interlock for stability.
