Greetings and welcome to today's auction........I will be offering an exceptional piece today from my own reserve stock collection with a sister billet being offered at a seperate auction! Up for bid is for one (1) old stock "TIGER FLAME" Pattern, Eastern Maple (acer rubrum), Luthier Electric Guitar Billet! This has excellent chatoyance, 3-dimensional & vivid figuring with fine "Tiger flame" pattern and has old wood/old world character due to the sprinkles of brown "pith fleck" synanymous with eastern maple! This aesthetic elements along with a burst nitro finish should result in a beautifully "aged patina" over time. This billet has developed creamy sapwood color on the surface due to the patina over time. This billet is slab sawn/flat sawn cut and has excellent growth rings- with a bright tap tone! This is a must for those either doing a historical make-over* conversion, re-top on or newer LP instrument- you are looking at the most important ingredient in the equation for a once in a lifetime project! There is an LP single-cut outline top halve on both faces (non cut-away halve on the one face and cut-away halve on the second face) in order to show curl coverage, for scale and fit within a traditional LP single-cut pattern. This would be ideal and suited for a "burst" finish. Dimensions are approximate: 20-5/16" long 7-3/8" wide (lower bout) to 7-1/4" (upper bout) 1.625" thick Specifications:Sapwood 2 face/2 side edges. Slab sawn/flat sawn cut. Rough surfaced planed 2 face/2 side edge. Will require additional surfacing- prior to book-matching. Air dried/kiln dried seasoned (currently at approx. 9.5-10 percent moisture content). Wood will need to be acclimated to your shops environmental conditions prior to fabrication so it is at workable moisture content. Ends sealed with Anchorseal. Images photographed outdoors with natural lighting conditions. Wood was brushed on all 4 sides with shellac/denatured alcohol mix to help show color, grain and figured (if any). Physical weight is approximately 5.50 pounds. * SIDE NOTES: there is a very small, approximately 1/8" diameter burl at the lower bout that is outside of the perimeter outline of the lower bout (approximately 2.4" from the one end grain and 2.025" distance from the closest outside corner side edge), some very fine planer nicks on the faces and there is a wane/void at the top end to the side edge; approximately 5.590" long and .300" wide. You can either work with it as this side edge could be used to route the tenon and neck pick up route cavity OR you can rip it clean and net a workable width of just a hair under 7".
