For auction.Attention vintage Pearl drum fans.Up for auction is a very cool, clean and original vintage Pearl Thunder King 4-piece drum kit from 1968. Classic kit, made in Japan.All drums finished in original blue oyster pearl wrap. The drums are in excellent condition with no shell damage, no extra holes, no breaks in the wrap and no fading in color or difference in color from drum to drum. Rich high gloss blue strata finish. Excellent chrome finish.All drums have their original Pearl script logo chrome badges. This kit has been well kept over the past 50 years and it shows. After doing some research I found there were relatively few Thunder King kits made by Pearl. These kits were considered to be at the top of Pearl's drum line up along with the President series. This kit was special ordered with Pearl President lugs on all drums. I believe the shells are made with phillipine mahogany wood according to online research -- was typical shell construction from this era.Shell interiors and bearing edges are in excellent condition. All drum heads are in good playing condition, some heads appear to be original.Details and specifications (all drum depths are measured from shell edge to edge):Bass drum -- 22 round x 14 inches deep. 8 lugs per side. Includes original Pearl rail mount hardware with double tom posts. Original lugs, legs, and cymbal mount on the side of the drum shell. Original resonate side chrome hoop with matching blue oyster pearl inlay. The batter side hoop is from an early 1970s Pearl bass drum and has inlay that is a shade darker than the original inlay. The claws and tensiion rods on the resonate side of the drum are original, the tension rods on the batter side have been replaced with rods that are turned with a drum key. Coated heads on both sides of the drum.Floor tom -- 16 x 16 on legs. 8 lugs per side. Original lugs, hoops and legs. Original internal muffler assembly is in place. The outer muffler control dial is missing -- these are easily found (not expensive) at online sites or by contacting Pearl.Mounted tom -- 13 round x 9 inches deep. 6 lugs per side. Original lugs and hoops. Original internal muffler assembly with outer control dial. Mounted tom -- 12 round x 8 inches deep. 6 lugs per side. Original lugs and hoops. The outer muffler control dial is missing.The drums all tune up nicely and hold their tune with that classic warm, woody tone that you expect from vintage drums like these.This is a classic kit in clean, very original condition -- appreciating in value and begging to be played.Paypal payment. shipping to all USA lower 48 states.
