This is a work of art 1st as a musical instrument from the 1980's - one of the finest classical guitars made by Ovation. The guitar itself is still in good condition all considered, with scars and some quirks acquired form 30 years of playing. It was made into a true work of art by it's owner in 2015 when it was chosen to become the canvas for an assemblage piece focusing on the art work used on 5 of Janice Joplin's original Albums, Big Brother live at Fillmore , Kozmic Blues, Cheep Thrills, Pearl, and In Concert. I could no longer keep the albums in a box in the closet next to the Ovation, my first 'real' guitar. It was only natural that they should become one, and be offered to another who needs her as much as she needs you. It is a work of art first, as it is complicated by weight and bulk as a guitar, weighing in at app. 7 lbs. but I played it for about a year to an enormous amount of admiration (for Janice, not my playing :)) and had a blast. My hands have played their last - time to move on purely as a visual Assemblage artist and photographer. The piece is coated by a healthy couple layers of epoxy resin - clear as glass and combined to last. Couple chips taken out on the wood of the neck, and the amp wiring for needs adjusting/tightening. 41" long, 16" at its widest and approximately 6" thick at its thickest.
