Up for sale, a 2006 Martin 000-28EC Eric Clapton signature model in exceptional condition. Perhaps Martin's most enduringly popular artist model, the 000-28EC boasts a solid Sitka spruce top, solid East Indian rosewood back and sides, and solid ebony bridge and fretboard. The herringbone wood marquetry on the top and soundhole are reminiscent of Martin's upscale vintage models, and the fretboard is inlayed with pre-war style snowflake inlays in abalone. This particular instrument has been very well cared for since new and the past few years have allowed the guitar to open up tonally, with a warmth and sweetness that you don't necessarily get with a brand new instrument. The 000-28 model is an ideal model for stage and studio work, with a body size that's more manageable than a dreadnought, and a powerful and clear tone. Even a light strum reveals the incredible projection this guitar can provide and as you dig in the volume increases dramatically, responding well to your picking dynamics and delivering crisp, even tones while fingerpicking as well. More focused in the midrange than a dreadnought but still yielding plenty of low end, the 000-28 EC has a detailed and pure sound, worthy of the Martin name! This guitar has been professionally setup here at our shop, Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, and strung with fresh 12-53 bronze strings. The neck has a pronounced V profile that still plenty round and generous in the shoulders, filling the palm comfortably. The 1 3/4" nut width is ideally spaced for easy chording and fingerstyle playing, with a traditional Martin scale length that's just shy of 25". The frets show only the faintest wear on the tops of the crowns on frets 1-2, with virtually no wear up the neck and no buzzing or dead spots. On the headstock, the Martin logo is clean on the rosewood veneer, and the open back Grover-made, Martin branded tuning machines with butterbean buttons turn very smoothly and hold pitch well. The body boasts a compensated saddle that retains its full factory height, providing ideal action. The hand numbered Eric Clapton label is visible through the soundhole, and the model and serial number info is clearly stamped in the usual spot on the heel block. The Indian rosewood grain on the solid back and sides is striking and vibrant, with no cracks or repairs of any kind. The top has a deep amber shading to the nitro lacquer, accented by a tortoise pickguard and the aforementioned herringbone binding on the soundhole and top. The instrument has also been fitted with a K&K Pure Western internal pickup that faithfully reproduces the tone and dynamics of the guitar.Cosmetically, this guitar is strikingly clean and near mint, with a couple extremely faint finish nicks, but even this wear is consistent with instruments you can find for sale "new" on the showroom floor. We'll conservatively call this Martin 000-28EC near mint, and it's a particularly nice example for Martin lovers and Clapton devotees alike. The original Martin hardshell case is included. Please check out our shop "Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar" on the web, and feel free to call us directly with any questions at 206.399.8518.Shipping in the continental USA will be $75, fully insured and shipped via FedEx Ground.
