Bach Stradivarius Model 72 Professional Lightweight Bb Trumpet4 7/8 Inch Bell.459 Medium Large Bore250 Leadpipe New Lacquer Finish- Clear and ShinyExcellent Valve actionNo DentsSerial Number 265,XXX- 1985If a top player is not playing a Bach Strad trumpet today, the overwhelming odds are that they probably played one at some time in their career. The Bach Strads have dominated the trumpet world since the 1950's. They remain the industry standard and are the trumpets by which all others are compared or evaluated. The 72 bell is for the Player that is sold on the Bach sound but is looking for a bigger, darker and more powerful tone. The 250 leadpipe is a more open blow than the standard 25 leadpipe. The fact that it is lightweight help retain the brilliance. The star on the engraving indicates that it is a lightweight. I ask my lead trumpet player why the Bach appeals to him and he rather smuggly says "It's the Bach sound."The Bach sound fits equally well in the jazz and the symphonic worlds, able to blend into a section or soloistically lead. It will scream into the highest registers with a big band but can also play stylistically in good taste. Back off and warm the air to produce a warm rich sound. This one came to me in good shape but with a major flaw. The Bach lacquer, always a bit of an issue, was in really poor condition. After a discussion with my talented technician it was agreed that he would remove the old dull lacquer and after a good polish and cleaning of the metal, would apply a new coat of clear and shiny lacquer. It should now be good for many many years of playing. There had been a few dings here and there which were also professionally removed. Valves are fast and smooth with good compression when you pull the slides against the valves.  In talking to my trumpet friend, he tells me that the 1980's were a very good time for Bach trumpets. It was a time they totally dominated the industry with very little competitive pressure. Longtime experienced craftsmen were still making them in the Bach factory before labor issues caused turnover.Comes with a very nice Accent case in excellent condition and a Bach 3C mouthpiece- a very good starting point- I would suggest auditioning several sizes to find your best fit with the horn.New Bach Strads are now selling for more than $2800 even through the discount sites. This should be a great chance to get a really great trumpet for a good value. Among those in the know, they will tell you that the 1985 trumpet will be a better playing horn than a new one.I will ship well packed to the lower 48 states for $35 and elsewhere for actual cost by US Postal Service. Europe and Japaqn should expect to pay about $80 for shipping - australia a bit more.No Reserve or Buy It Now on this one - Auction sets the price and High Bidder wins it!!
