Description  Vintage 1967 1968 Gibson SG Special Electric Guitar. This is the beautiful cherry red faded mahogany version, with the vibrola tremolo system. What is even rarer about this guitar is that the original P90s were upgraded back in the late 60s/early 70s to the PAF 'Patent No 2737842' that are widely known as some of the best pickups ever made! What is more, the guitar has been reverse wired to give that out of phase sound! A real killer tone! This is a true players guitar - you'll not get a better visual look and sound as this one!  Gibson is the most recognisable and collectable brand when it comes to vintage guitars. Example after example prove that these are some of the greatest guitars ever produced for the money. They have the perfect vintage feel with tone for days!Serial number is 887565Weighs in at a very light 6.6lbs.Service History  We pride ourselves on our inspection and set up of each guitar, making this ready to plug in and play.  Please note that this is set up to a standard The Music Locker deems saleable. Personal preference may differ so please see the Product Details section above.  Cosmetic Inspection  This is definitely a well-gigged players grade guitar, with plenty of mojo! The previous owner played this for years as his main guitar, hence the upgraded pickups. There is crazing throughout the guitar, adding crazy character to this! There looks to have been a neck break in the past, which has been safely and extremely securely repaired (confirmed by our luthier as a very very sturdy repair - it will not bother you again!). There are also remnants of some additions in the 70s on the back of the headstock. Again, these will not bother you at all! The back of the body has plenty of buckle rush also. Again, this is not a collectors grade guitar but you will certainly not find a better sounding, or looking version of this guitar! Please have a close look at the high resolution photographs below, as these form part of our description.  Originality This guitar has had the P90s upgraded in the late 60s/early 70s to T-Top PAF pickups, hence the professional and clean route at the neck position. The caps have been changed (but original pots) to enhance the out of phase sound. Apart from this, we believe the rest is original. Summary  Overall, this is a very rare and collectable guitar. Not only is this sure to increase in value year on year, but also it can be an enjoyed investment.  You?re more than welcome to come along and have a play on this through one of our vintage amplifiers!  Where else but at The Music Locker!  If you click and buy through eBay, please pay (or make contact) with us within 24 hours, in order to let us know your payment plan.
