Up for sale, a 2004 Gibson Firebird VII in excellent condition and in perfect working order with a rare Copper Metallic nitro lacquer finish. This limited edition custom color model has been discontinued and is a faithful reissue of the Firebird's 1963-64 specifications. Boasting vintage spec 'banjo' tuners and a long frame Maestro Lyre Vibrola, this guitar has great tuning stability and the added functionality of a vibrato unit that works well for expressive shakes and warbles. Powerful, chimey, and wound particularly hot, the pickups have a distinct tonal character that sets them apart from a traditional mini humbucker. Whether you're looking for detailed cleans or saturated overdriven tones, the mahogany/walnut construction of this Firebird and the top notch pickups help you achieve tones applicable to a wide range of genres. Weighing in at 9lbs 8oz, the guitar is fairly easy on the back too. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, we've dialed in this Firebird with fresh 10-46 strings and low action. The neck features a medium C shape profile, with bound ebony fretboard inlaid with pearl blocks. Unlike other Firebird models which have rosewood boards, the ebony fretboard on this VII adds that distinct clarity and attack for which this tone wood is known, giving focus to the hot pickups. The frets are in remarkable shape with perfectly rounded crowns and virtually no wear, and the guitar conforms to vintage Gibson spec with a 1 11/16" nut width and 24 3/4" scale. On the headstock, the banjo tuners turn smoothly, and the black truss rod cover with "Gibson" silkscreened logo tops things off.All of the electronics work as they should, the chrome hardware is very clean, and the Lyre Vibrola is both undeniably cool visually and a unit that cements the '64 reissue look while being highly usable (not every vibrato can make this claim). Cosmetically, the guitar is very clean, with a few small finish nicks and dimples adjacent to the rear strap button and central to the back of the guitar. There is also light, localized buckle rash on the back which doesn't go through the finish. Overall, this is a very well kept and sparingly played Firebird with a rare Copper Metallic finish! The original black tolex Gibson hardshell case with plush black interior is included.
