Fender 1953/54 Fender Transitional Twin Amp.1st year issue. 500 made 53-55. Wide panel. Serial #007X. 1954 Jensen P12Q Alnico speakers both codes are 220427 .New Handle. Period correct retweed. Replaced xformers-Kendrick 2001- Transition from a 5C8 to 5D8 circuit. Octal tubes have been replaced with glass. 12AX7. Orig cabinet, chassis, grill cloth and baffle. Tube chart says Super Amp. Stamped out with Twin Amp stamped above it. There are 2 date codes on this amp chart. CE, which is May 1953, and (DJ) which is Oct.1954. Those 2 codes are handwritten in ink, while the baffle has a CE stamp as well. This amp could very well have been used as a test amp for the first 5D8 circuit. Or used to test the first Stratocasters as 1954 is the first year of the Stratocaster. Who knows, Bill Carson, Rex Gallien or even Freddie Tavares could have played through this amp. This is sheer conjecture but the amp was not released from the factory for 17 months after production. A piece of Fender history. Comes with a new D2F cover. Back panels are in the orig. tweed. 3 prong cord. Everything on this amp works. This amp deserves to be played. It is 25 watts, first year issue, low power version. Yet 25 watts is plenty loud for club gigs. Speakers have a couple of repairs but are working properly. One of the preamp tube shield mount is bent so a tube shield wont fit. I don't have the tube shields anyway. As with any vintage amp there may need to be some service done. The treble knob is very sensitive so I keep it set low. It might need a new cap value to cut down on the icepick in forehead tone. All sales final/no refunds. I have described this amp to the best of my ability. Prefer local pickup ...RIPCLF............ |
