Ludwig Rocker 5 Piece Maple Drum Set – 1980’s There are few complete kits like this remaining. If you price the individual drums in existence you will find this drum complete kit a bargain. After doing a lot of research I have identified this vintage drum set as being made in Monroe, North Carolina in about 1984 but were made up to 1998. The condition is pristine with minor scratches only on the left top of the bass drum wrap due to the tom-tom and rear Bass drum rim from the pedal. The black and white badge and hardware are some of the clues. They were purchased by me on EBay 2009 from a church and used infrequently. The drums have inner Maple shells and the hardware is triple chrome done in those days and not the cheaper lugs and hardware provided on the newer Accent models made in China. The Rocker lugs do not pit and have well rounded corners and known as Strata that sell for several thousand today used. Rocker counter-hoops are thicker than many current counter-hoops on most drums today providing a distinct rim shot click sound. The tom drumheads were updated to Evans Genera G2. The bass drumheads are Remo and the kick head is clear and original. This is my practice kit and not used for gigs. This kit comes with a 6” deep chrome metal snare shown separately and not the snare pictured. It is sold without cymbals, stands or thrown but these are available from me at low prices new or used and shipping will be combined. This Rocker 5 Piece Maple Drum Kit consists of the following:22x14 Bass Drum with tom mounts 12x8 Tom13x9 Tom16x16 Floor Tom with legs14x6 Chrome 8 Lug Metal SnareThe following was taken from the internet on the vintage drum guide on Ludwig_rockers:• Timeline as follows.....• The Rocker Series from 1984 - 1994 had 4ply shells with clear lacquer inside.• The Rocker-II-Series from 1984 - 1994 had 4ply shells with coated grey lacquer inside.• The Rocker Series from 1994 - 1998 was Taiwan-made and inferior with pearl-type tom holders.• From 1996 on the Rocker Series was updated. The drums had mini-classic lugs and had new shells made of poplar, birch and maple. The series was divided in rocker, rocker elite.... to today’s rocker birch series.• The clear lacquer interior is also the better drum by far.text by: the_drum_dadPlease refer to other Ludwig items listed in the last few days.
