This quality archtop guitar is, first and foremost, a superlative acoustic instrument. It has been hand carved out of solid European tonewoods by master craftsmen trained in Hofner’s 152 year tradition of making violins, violas, cellos and double basses for symphony orchestra musicians. It is finished in shellac violin varnish, a very thin finish preserving its celebrated acoustics. Like its cousins in the symphony, its sound just gets better with age. The single gold Hofner Diamond floating pickup is designed and mounted faithfully to maintain the acoustic sound when amplified. There’s no better value in a full size jazz guitar. Unamplified, its 16” wide, 3 ½ “ deep body, its straight neck and low action will enable you effortlessly to fill a room with sound. With a jazz-style amplifier you can fill an auditorium with its true, clear acoustics.Specifics: top is solid, hand-carved select German spruce. Sides, back and neck are solid flame maple. Maple grain on the back is perfectly bookmatched and the neck has an ebony fingerboard. 22 frets, 25 ½” scale. The headstock features ornate mother of pearl inlay and Schaller tuners. Please see photos. This 1997 model is signed by master luthier Thomas Stuhlein. OHSC includes a precision hygrometer. There are a small number of random scratches in the finish, minimal for a 20-year-old instrument. Structurally it is like new.If you want a guitar that plays smoothly, projects beautiful sound, and is a peerless example of the luthier’s art, this is for you.
