1978 Tokai Les Paul Reborn REVISED DESCRIPTION: as per TokaiRegistery this model is more likely a 1978 model, as the name was changed in late 1979, so the 8000xxx serial appears to be referring to 1978!! Cool!! Controversial, for sure. Literally called the Les Paul Reborn. Lawsuit headstock, lawsuit name. The quality of build is great. Beats Gibsons of that era for sure. Pretty coloring of the gold tone, and less than average play wear for a nearly 40 year-old guitar. All original. The wiring is stock---all pots on one PC board like the best Japanese guitars of that era. Strings haven't been changed since she went in climate controlled storage over a decade ago, so she'll need a setup and string change for sure. Neck is straight, it's THICK, too, like a '57 gold top or '58 burst thickness. She's heavy, too, definitely not chambered. The pickguard and bracket were removed in the late 1990s and were lost in the historic Nashville Flood of 2010. Will sell with its original chipboard case if you'd like it. Let me know. Own a piece of history that Gibson would rather forget.
