Description

Here's my GIBSON A1 Mandolin. It's actually, I believe, a bit of an A1/A2 hybrid. It has a truss rod and also has the old Gibson logo so I reckon can be dated to 1942. It has FON 5749H which I think corroborates this. Gibson's output was severely limited due to the war effort from 1942 on so I'd guess that this one used up some ready parts that were already waiting to go, hence the A2 features. It's in generally good condition, no cracks or breaks. It has quite a few scratches and marks and some of the paint has rubbed away around the f-holes so if you like your instruments pristine you'll be looking elsewhere. As far as I know it's all original except that the pickguard is sadly missing, It had deteriorated so badly (original celluloid) when I got it that is couldn't be saved. There's been some repair to the binding in the past and I think the neck has been refinished. The action is great, just might need setting up to your taste, the bridge adjusts well and I've never had to have the truss rod adjusted. It comes in a modern hard case with plush lining (TKL or similar) and it will be packed extremely well. Post is free to UK, outside by ebay global programme, and no returns outside UK.Please feel free to ask questions and I'll do my best to answer them. I've been a buyer and seller on ebay for over fifteen years,
