Up for sale, a 1964 Fender Concert in exceptional, collector-grade condition and in perfect working order. One of the earliest Pre-CBS Blackface Concerts produced, this amp retains the original quad of gold frame Oxford 10K5 speakers with transitional black plastic "Fender" embossed bell covers. Essentially a Super Reverb without the reverb, the Concert shares the same AA763 preamp as its "Super" brother, and this amp has notably more headroom and clarity (given that the reverb circuit adds a gain stage). Warm, detailed, and able to deliver that classic Blackface shimmer like few amps can, this Concert is a prime example of the pinnacle of Fender's Pre-CBS circuit design. And let's not forget about that classic Blackface tremolo! The circuit is extremely original, with stock power and output transformers made by Schumacher and dating to the first weeks of '64. The CTS pots date back to 1963 along with the choke, and the tube chart has a clear "NC" date stamp, translating to March of 1964 (typically the latest date on any Fender amp). The preamp is untouched, the transformer bells are minty and free of oxidation, and the faceplate is remarkably clean. To keep the amp operating reliably, the power supply has been recapped and a modern three-prong power cable has been installed. The speakers retain their original cones, and it's exceedingly rare to see this amp stocked with its original gold frame Oxford quad. These are the same speakers used in the Brownface Vibroverb and Super amps, and deliver a very sweet and balanced midrange character that is the perfect match for the Blackface preamp. All four speakers retain their black plastic magnet covers and have matching date stamps from the 17th week of 1963.Cosmetically, the photos really speak to the remarkable condition of this amp, with original smooth black tolex and vibrant, unfaded silver sparkle grillcloth. All original hardware is present and clean, and aside from a few light scuffs on the sides, there is virtually no wear to report!
