A superb old French violin bow made by Jean-Joseph Martin ca. 1860 for J.B. Vuillaume, branded "VUILLAUME A PARIS", certified by Alex Gartsman. J.J.Martin was one of the fine and important French bow makers of the second half of 19th century. He also made fine bows for J.B. Vuillaume. This is EXCELLENT EXAMPLE of the maker's work, very similar in the level of workmanship/handling/tone to the best work of J.J. Martin's colleges in J.B. Vuillaume shop like Pierre Simon and Nicolas Maline. This bow is suitable for a leader of the orchestra or a soloist.
The stick is dark red brown pernambuco of superior choice, round, strong with a perfect flexibility, top level tonal quality and handling. The length of the stick is 72.5 cm and the weight is of the bow is 60 g. The frog and button are ebony with silver mountings. The bow is ready to play with new hair.
