Here's a very rare National (Valco?) tube amplifier circa late 1930's. Beautiful wooden cabinet with 12 inch field coil speaker. The amp head is removable and is stored in the bottom of the cabinet.What a cool piece! Art deco influence in the cabinet grill and in the metal cover for the head section. Appears to be all original, and since it is an antique, I did not convert to 3 prong ac cable or update electrolytic caps. The leather handle could be a replacement - it is definitely older.Cosmetic condition of the cabinet shows general wear and a large scratch on front. I have seen much, much worse. A few small pieces of wood missing from the grillwork as shown. Could be touched up to look better, but I'll leave that to the new owner, since some folks like to keep them untouched. The cosmetic condition of the head is excellent. Looks like there was once a back panel, but it is no longer there.The amp sounds great. Single volume and tone, and the tone adds gain to the sound as you turn it up. The volume control is a little wonky but does work. Includes an extra power tube in original box (see pics).These old National amps rarely come onto the market, especially in this nice of a cosmetic and functional condition.
