Folks, I have for sale a new 5 string electric mandolin built by myself in my Devon workshop, you can find out more about me at or else look up "Tavy" on the . This is my newly redesigned 5 string electric with a shorter 17 fret neck to push the pickup into a more favourable location for a smoother jazzier sound. The spec for this one is: Standard mandolin 13 7/8" scale, with CGDAE tuning. Short 17 fret neck allows the pickup to be located where the 19th fret would be for a smoother jazzier sound. Coincidently it also produces a nice strong and clear e string, free of the usual harsh/thin/tinny sound that can be an issue for electric mandolins. Hollow Mahogany body, with solid spruce top with burr walnut overlay. Mahogany neck with non adjustable carbon-fibre stiffener, radiused ebony fretboard, EVO gold fretwire, brass dot markers. Seymour Duncan cool rails pickup, switchable between series/parallel/single coil, volume and tone (treble cut) controls. "Box within a box" shielded interior. Nice easy action: .050" (1.25mm) on the e string to .060" (1.5mm) on the G and .070" (1.75mm) on that big low C string. Nut width over 5 courses is 35mm with string spacing the same as the lower 5 courses on a guitar. Coincidentally the top 4 courses also match a standard 28mm mandolin nut, so the spacing should be immediately familiar to both guitar and mandolin players.. Gotoh machine heads Finish is EnduroVar semi-gloss. No animal products used in construction to ensure smooth passage through customs if required. Lifetime (return to me) warranty against defects in manufacture. The not so small print Overseas bidders are welcome - I've set a "notional" cost of worldwide postage, but please wait for me to get a firm postage quote before paying and I'll ship at cost. Note that most international carriers exclude musical instruments from their insurance cover, so shipping is at the buyers own risk.. The instrument will be insured for the full value when posted to the UK - in the event of problems or damage, please contact me as soon as possible to arrange a refund. If in any event you're not completely happy with the instrument, I'll accept a "no quibble" return and refund the full auction cost, but not the postage.
