Aranjuez no.6 Kohno topped - $1300This is a very sweet sounding guitar with great depth and very even throughout. The trebles are very clear and with deep romantic based. The guitar plays beautifully and visually quite stunning.  This is Concert Level Classical guitar with the cedar top made and stamped by Kohno.Aranjuez was a small artisan work shop in Japan during the late sixties and seventies which the famous luthier and classical guitar promoter Juan Orozco started in associated with Kohno. Kohno was the lead Luthier and the bodies of the guitar were made by Takemine lead by the luthier Hirade and then the guitars where sent to Kohno who put on the his top. These guitars with his stamp are the same sound qualities as found in a Kohno guitar. Aranjuez is still in existence and they only have one model 720 that Kohno’s nephew Sakurai installs top made by himself. Making guitars this way allows guitars to be offered at lower prices. The top is responsible for about 90% of the final sound of the guitar. I was able to do side by side comparison of this guitar with a Kohno no. 10 from 1974and they were very similar. In 1977 Kohno stopped applying his tops and the Aranjuez model 3, 5, 6 were made in 1978 were made by Hirade if Takamine . Sometime later they changed the model numbers with the 720 models as the only ones with Kohno/Sakurai tops with the rest of the models made by Ryoji Matsuoka ( a great luthier himself). Juan sold the Kohno’s made guitars with the Orozco label as Models 8, 10 and 15 and these are quite expensive and collectable today. This guitar was made for the domestic model and the No 6 would have been a very expensive guitar at the time and was their top model offered. This guitar is in very good condition and most importantly it has the Kohno bracing along with the Kohno sound. It has the Kohno’s characteristic clear trebles, with balance, power and dynamic range. This is a concert level instrument on all levels. I cannot make out the year on the label but it does bear Kohno stamp so it was made prior to 1978.The guitar is in beautiful condition and only has two marks that I show in the photo. A string divot is by the bridge and a small dent on the lower left which I try to show in the photo and hardly visable. The scale on the guitar is 662 mm, but due to the superb neck design and set up plays easier than my 650mm guitars. All I did was add a new set of Galli high tension titanium string. The action is set at 3.2 mm on the 6 string at the 12th fret with plenty of saddle left. Neck is straight. It’s a good chance to get a Kohno sounding guitar at the faction of the price.Scale: 662 mmNut: 52mmAction 12th Fret: 3.2 mm 6th stringTop: cedarBack: rosewood (It looks solid but it is hard to tell)Sides: Rosewood (It looks solid but it is hard to tell)Neck: Straight.
