Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a very special find. A rare Shure Brothers 333 Uni-directional Gradient ribbon microphone manufactured in Evanston, ILL in the mid to late 1950's and was Shure's radical, newer ribbon mic looking like nothing else available at the time. This particulr mic shown was manufactured sometime between the mid 1950's to the 1960's. The serial number does not indicate what year though to my knowledge. This is only the 2nd Shure 333 model mic I have ever offered on Ebay as they just don't come around very often. It comes with it's original balanced 18 foot Cannon XLR cable and carrying case.
This 333 model looks very much like the 330 and SM-33 but unlike the 330 it has the switch on the front of the lower shock mount that allows the user to adjust the unit from a "Voice" to "Music' setting. I should note right away that while the 333 has the adjustable impedance setting in the rear and does work...there is one tiny screw that broke off that holds the impedance cover on. The other screw works fine and holds the cover tightly but that should be noted. You can see the broken screw in pic # 8. This 33 has been tested and sounds incredible with a strong usable signal. You can easily pick your voice up from 1 foot away but sounds ideal at about 3 to 4 inches away. I'm not sure if the ribbon is original but it sounds really nice if so? This 333 has a clean, Italian deco flair with smooth lines that are very appealing to the eye. The design of the 330 series never changed in it's brief lifespan. The 333 was just the was the upgraded model and was very expensive in its day. The 300 came with a painted umber grey (more of a brown) finish instead of the satin chrome finish to cut down on glare from studio lights. The original paint on this 333 is not perfect showing typical light wear but overall very nice especially considering it's age. There are no engravings, dents or corrosion. The Shure 333 was an excellent choice for vocals (singing, broadcasting) and conversations with multiple people. The threading for the stand is perfect and it accepts the cable shown. The Cannon cable is original and appx 18 feet in length which is more than enough for any desk or floor stand. The cable is soft and pliable and free of any damage. It has a newer 70's era Switchcraft male XLR end connector that will work with most modern audio equipment.  The original 333 carrying case is also included and in very good condition with the soft felt liner. The locking mechanism works excellent and it a nice bonus to have as they are getting harder to find. If you demand a rare 333 model mic in great working condition...this is your girl. DESK STAND SHOWN IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE...FOR DISPLAY AND SCALING PURPOSES ONLY.  As with all my vintage items... I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy. The return shipping will be on you as I believe that's fair but the purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition...period.
