| Classical guitar by Antonio Emilio Pascual, Buenos Aires 1926A splendid historical guitar by Antonio Emilio Pascual - who's full name was Antonio Pascual Emilio Viudes y Aznar (1883-1961) -, made in Buenos Aires in 1926. According to José Romanillos (The Vihuela de Mano and the Spanish Guitar, p.421), Pascual Viudes emigrated to Argentina shortly after his marriage in 1909. Contrary to what the label suggests, his guitars therefore weren't made in Madrid, but in Buenos Aires - a little twist of truth for obvious commercial reasons. He was indeed trained in Madrid, in the workshops of José Ramirez and later Manuel Ramirez. Nonetheless, his guitars are not totally typical of the Madrilenian School, as they blend in some features of the Barcelonian School (including, but not limited to, the characteristic shape of the heel, a strong reminder of the work of the Simplicios) and a more robust construction. The later appears as an approach to non-Spanish Schools. And as a matter of fact, this excellent sounding guitar features less spectacular basses than most lightly built Spanish guitars of the Era, but a perfect balance between registers and more singing trebles. This guitar is in excellent condition, displaying its original finish (which bears small traces of old repairs) and tuning machines. I refretted it, changed one broken roller on the treble side machine and fitted a new saddle nut. Playablity is now perfect.Quality of both workmanship and materials is excellent, the inlaid ribs in particular are truly outstanding. This is simply the most beautiful guitar I ever saw by this maker, offered for sale for considerably less than the price another beautiful specimen from the same period fetched in public auction a few years ago. Please bear in mind that depending on your location and if you want the guitar to be shipped (rather than to come and fetch it personnally, which you are most welcome to do), this guitar may need CITES-papers to be exported outside the EU. I can provide these, but additional costs linked to this procedure will have to be paid by the future owner.Total length: 985 mm Length of body: 479 mm Max. width of the body: 357 mm Max. depth of the body: 99 mm Vibrating string length: 650 mm Width of the neck at the upper nut: 49 mm Width of the neck at the neck to body-junction: 61 mm Distance between 1st and 6th string at the upper nut: 40 mm Distance between 1st and 6th string at the bridge: 63,5 mm Weigth (strung): c. 1.620 g General remarks:1) Unless otherwise stated, guitars offered for sale via my eBay shop are not delivered with a hard case. There are two reasons for that: the first is that when I have a case made to measure, the result - depending on which manufacturer and options I choose - may not necessarily match the wishes of the guitar's future owner. So I prefer to leave this up to him or her. More importantly - and contrary to what most people think - as far as shipping is concerned, a hard case is your guitar's worst enemy. I am very careful and meticulous when packaging guitars, applying the idea that the guitar should simply be sealed and padded by a huge (!) amount of quality bubble-wrap, and put inside a very large and strong cardbox. The result is a light packaging, which absorbs all shocks to the outside before they can cause any damage to the instrument. I have shipped many guitars all over the planet this way and never have had any damage - but on the other side, I have seen guitars shipped inside their hard cases literally destroyed during the voyage.2) I am responsible for the quality of packaging, but not for delays in the delivery schedule due to customs services in your country or any case of force majeure. Also, please keep in mind that any shipping option taken against my explicit advice involves your responsibility. Shipping is free inside Europe, to North-America and to Japan, for any other locations please check back with me.3) Prices are non-negotiable, but I am interested in taking in payment European 18th and 19th century guitars in medium to bad condition. Check back if you have anything to propose.4) Any questions or concerns, feel free to ask.5) You are welcome to check out this and other guitars at my place (on appointment only).PLEASE SEE MY OTHER ITEMS, TOO.
