Up for sale, a 1952 Magnatone lap steel and amplifier set in 100% original condition and in good working order. Branded "Noble" for the Don Noble company that contracted through Magnatone in the early '50s, this is an attractive and upscale set in remarkable shape. Finished in matching blue pearloid, this lap steel and amp were designed as a set and sound great together, with a classic, twangy tone that instantly evokes the golden age of country music, not to mention western swing and the Hawaiian roots of the lap steel craze! The whole set is exactly how it left the factory in the early 1950s, just years after the "Magnatone" name superseded the Dickerson brand which had carried the company's products through the 1930s and 40s.  This set is clean and complete, with very clean blue pearloid covering on the steel, which actually covers the entire top including the blade pickup!  The nickel pickup cover is still intact, and the electronics are untouched, with original Stackpole pots and paper in oil tone cap. The headstock retains a minty "Noble" waterslide decal as well as a set of Kluson no-line tuning machines with exceedingly rare clear diamond tulip buttons. Matching the tuners for vintage cool, the extra tall transparent speed knobs are also intact. The matching amp boasts a 8" alnico speaker, 5 watt Class A design, and original tubes. Finished in matching blue pearloid, this amp delivers a tone that overdrives quickly and smoothly, great for steel and also for a perfect secret weapon for guitar tracks in the studio. Featuring only an on/off switch and Volume knob, the amp is as pure and simple as you can get! The circuit on the amp is untouched, and cosmetically the amp is very clean with Royal Crest graphics on the grill (or "A Day at the Races" graphics if you're a Queen fan). The blue pearloid is particularly clean on both pieces and has remained a vibrant shade of blue, which is in stark contrast to most examples on the market which have turned a shade of green. It's the smaller details that really speak to the remarkable condition of this set, such as the near mint waterslide decals on both pieces, the flawless underside of the amp, and the clean chrome plating on the steel and hammerite texture with clean white silkscreened graphics on the amp chassis. Please check out our shop "Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar" on the web, and feel free to call us directly with any questions at 206.399.8518.
