Gibson’s ES-135 series was perhaps one of the best deals out there. A real MADE IN THE USA archtop priced less than many imports. Good quality and killer looks. The ES-135 is a semi hollowbody. Just like an ES-335, it has a solid centerblock for good sustain and resistance to feedback. Also like a 335, it has a thinline body. The single cutaway outline resembles an ES-175 or ES-125. The rest of the body is laminated maple for that classic tone. The rounded maple neck features a 24.75 inch scale rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays. Dual 57 Classic humbuckers dish out killer tones. Top notch hardware includes keystone button Grover Rotomatic tuners, a Stopbar tailpiece and a Tuneomatic bridge. The guitar is appointed nicely with a beveled pickguard and single ply binding on the front and back. This example is a bit of a rarity. It’s all Natural Finish and Gold Hardware really round out the package. I’ve had several 135’s but only 2 in 6 years in this finish or this early in production. It’s actually more like an ES-137 in many ways. Either way, super cool. If you dig Gibson archtops but don’t want to spend mondo dinero, the 135 could be a great choice! This Gibson has nice feel and smooth tone. The neck is straight and the frets are good. The pickups sound excellent and the electronics work as they should. A nice archtop for rock or blues. This is a Mint instrument. It shows Very Minor Play-wear with no marks or impressions to note. Comes in Gibson hardshell case. The ES-135 was discontinued a few years back and replaced with the more expensive ES-137. The 135 has garnered many fans thanks to its handsome looks and reasonable price.
