Description
Type: Great Highland Bagpipes Exact Year: 1927

Vintage set of Robertson Bagpipes from the late 1920s. It has been determined that the pipes are likely made from Brazilwood, which is a wood used at the time before Blackwood became commonplace. The ring caps are Casein, an early imitation ivory, with nickel ferrules. The stocks have been sleeved with brass to remedy cracks. The drones themselves are crack free, in great condition. There is a nick on the cord guide of a tenor where it was probably knocked off a wall long before they came into my possession. The blowpipe is a replacement by Kintail (also came with the pipes)
The tone (most importantly) is exceptional. A big room filling sound, with great blend from the tenors and bass. Would make a phenomenal band pipe, especially great for travel due to the lack of ivory. They were played successfully in solo competition and band contests at the grade 1 level. I can provide drone reeds and a bag if desired.
