Ikh Khuur- Bass "Horse Head Fiddle" (like Morin Khuur) - 2 String Mongolian Bass RARE!This is a 2-stringed traditional Mongolian Ikh Khuur ("horse head bass fiddle"). This instrument is very common in Mongolian ensembles but extremely rare in the West. Despite the smaller Morin Khuur ("horse head fiddle") being quite easy to get hold of, I've personally not seen another example of an Ikh Huur for sale here. I had the instrument shipped by a personal friend directly from Mongolia in 2010.The instrument is roughly the size of a double bass, although obviously doesn't have the same range as a classical bass by virtue of having 2 strings! However it has it's own unique sound which is very rich in harmonics, and quite striking (designed to blend with Mongolian throat singing/harmonics). Everybody who's heard it thought it sounds fantastic and this is a very high quality custom built example, not a cheap copy.Reason for sale: I have built up a collection of bowed stringed instruments over the last 10 years or so, but I'm currently cutting down to just the instruments I play regularly. Also trying to save a bit of storage space at the moment as I'm living in a smaller room and this is quite large! Hoping it can go to a good home where it will be played regularly. Any questions feel free to ask.
