Introduced in 1963, the original "1235" doubleneck was first made at the legendary Gibson Kalamazoo, Michigan factory. Although it was strikingly different, it quickly became one of the most sought-after guitars in rock. Pete Townsend, Jimmy Page, and John McLaughlin were just three of the guitarists who caught on quickly to the "1235" and found it a way to make a memorable entrance on stage. If you're searching for one guitar that embodies the word "versatile", look no further. The Limited Edition G-1275 has a select mahogany body with the iconic SG cherry finish. Both the 12-string and 6-string necks are mahogany and share Epi's 1960s SlimTaper shape, a 12" fretboard radius and a 24-3/4" scale. Both necks also feature rosewood fretboards with ivory binding, 20 medium jumbo frets, and pearloid parallelogram block inlays. The 6-string features a 1-11/16" nut width while the 12-string offers a bit more room at 1-7/8”. The tuners are period-correct Deluxe Tulip Button tuners with a high 18:1 ratio. The G-1275 has more than just a visual “wow” factor. It sounds huge and thankfully, plays every bit as good as it looks. The 12-string half of the G-1275 features an Alnico Classic humbucker in the neck position and an Alnico Classic Plus humbucker in the bridge position. The 6-string body is powered by an open coil Alnico Classic humbucker in the neck and an open coil Alnico Classic Plus humbucker at the bridge. Both pickups are controlled by full function Black Speed Knobs for volume and tone that are powered by full-size 500K potentiometers. Epiphone has also re-created the one-of-a-kind hardware and pickguard that make the Limited Edition G-1275 one of the most easily recognized guitars in rock. The 6-string and 12-string each have their own Epiphone all-metal 3-way toggle switch for pickup selection. There is also a second “master” all-metal 3-way toggle switch located between the 6-string and 12-string bridge. From here, players can choose the 12-string (up), the 6-string (down) or both (middle) for unlimited tone combinations. The G-1275 features Epiphone’s famous LockTone bridge and special ABS style “Claw” tailpieces which yield incredible sustain. The hardware also includes Epiphone’s heavy-duty output jack and a pair of 2-way adjustable truss rods. This guitar needed no refurbishing other than smoothing some slightly too sharp fret ends. It has no player's wear, dings, or cosmetic blemishes. It is nicely set up with low and buzz free action on both necks. The truss rods have been adjusted and the intonation was set.
