Fender Eric Clapton Stratocaster Upgraded w/ 23k Gold Leaf Candy Tangerine Body
Estimated price for orientation: 1 449 $
Category: Fender Eric Clapton Stratocaster
Class:
Description Body Material: Solid Wood Model Year: 2016 Dexterity: Right-Handed Features: Built-in Amp String Configuration: 6 String Size: Full Size Brand: Fender Country/Region of Manufacture: United States Model: Stratocaster Artist Series Items Included: Case Body Type: Solid
The body was built in the USA by Warmoth Guitar Products, and made of just 2 pieces of alder like the Clapton Custom Shop models. It was gilded with genuine 23K double patent gold leaves, and finished professionally in translucent candy Tangerine.
Some use imitation leaves as they are much cheaper ($15 to cover a guitar body like this instead of $160 for double patent 23k genuine gold leaves). I have used both in the past and still prefer the shine and look of real gold leaves. The hardtail bridge is from Gotoh and features notched saddles for improved tuning stability.I asked Warmoth to route a 9V battery box as this makes battery changes much faster and more convenient than on the stock body. The body has a few extremely minor finish blemishes here and there. The primary ones are couple of scratches that happened during the finishing or buffing around the lower bout (see close up picture). There are also couple spots were the sanding went through the tangerine color coat, those are however impossible to see once the bridge, neck plate, and pickguard are installed (but I like to mention it for full disclosure ). The pickguard still has the protective film on it.
The TBX tone control pot was replaced by a Fender 250K no-load pot with orange drop capacitor. This is much closer to Eric's own guitars which have a regular 250k tone control installed, while providing extra presence/brightness of a TBX pot.
