Description Brand: Fender Model: Mandocaster Number of Strings: 4 Country/Region of Manufacture: United States Exact Year: 1966
What makes this guitar special: This 4-string electic mandolin is in fantastic shape, with all its original components. Fender’s short-lived “Mandocaster” as they were dubbed by the public, is a truly underappreciated instrument. It combines the superb playability of a rosewood fingerboard and Stratocaster style body with a stripped down 4-string mandolin design, which sounds absolutely fantastic thanks to the original hand-wound single coil pickup. This gorgeous piece comes professionally setup by our in-house luthier, and will arrive ready to play.Cosmetic condition: Very good condition for its age, with the expected wear for a 50 year old instrument-various small nicks, dings, chips, scuffs, and scratches throughout the instrument, along with the expected weather checking throughout and some visible fretwear. A previous owner also carved “Sta Prop” into the back of the headstock.Body: Contoured double cutaway alder body in three-tone sunburst finish with four-ply tortoise pickguard and top-loading bridge with 2 adjustable threaded barrel saddles. Original bridge cover is included.Weight: 3lb, 4.5ozNeck: Maple neck with dark rosewood fingerboard, black side dots, and cream colored dot inlays. 1 1/8” nut width, 14” scale length. Headstock features a black cursive Fender logo, along with Pat. Pending sticker and Kluson Deluxe tuners, in perfect working condition. Neck pocket dates to May of 1966. Neck is straight and plays beautifully up and down the fretboard with no intonation issues whatsoever.Electronics: Original single coil pickup with knurled chrome knobs, 1x volume, 1x tone. Pots date to ’65 and all electronics are in full working condition.Case: Original hard shell case included.
