You are buying one original quad (4 speakers) all original, excellent working and serviceable, 1965 Pre Cbs Fender Super Reverb Speakers. I pulled these from
this vintage amp several years back for my recording studio. They were tested, played through by me to test them, and they sound phenomenally good. I stored
them in boxes in my home for years since. Recently took photos and checked the ohm readings, please see photos. I had to razor blade and peel one speaker
fender blue label to confirm they are CTS made. The CTS ceramic are made in 1965, on the 27th week. They are rare compared to the alnicos. The CTS ceramics are known for their power, efficiency and full low end. They also have lots of sparkle and treble and are very good speakers compared to what is sold today. During the original Blackface run, the Super Reverb was offered with the more common CTS alnico 10s and were very rarely seen with a set of ceramic speakers (like our '65 here). This CTS quad is completely original and all came from the same amp. I installed 1954 Jensen Gold labels in my super reverb. So hence why these were in storage. I really wanted to hold onto these, since they came from my 65 SR amp, but, they have been here in my studio for years not in consistent use, and I have a rule that,
if I am not using them, share it to the world, because
they were created to be used for music. So here is your opportunity to buy these classic rare speakers in great condition for their age. The Super Reverbs equipped with ceramic speakers have a bit more headroom and punch, with a clarity in the midrange, that is unable to be obtained by any other speaker.
Speakers are unique and play a large part of your tone. The readings on each speaker are : 7.5 ohm, 7.4 ohm, 7.6 ohm, 7.6 ohm. All cones are flawless, and suspensions are tight. I see no need for anyone to do any restoration to these. Just play with some respect to them, and you will be good to go for years. This will make a great rebuild or restore, or enhancement to any guitar rig. Please see photos. All speakers are pictured and are now well packed for the next owner. These are priced fairly with the current vintage market value and for their excellent condition as they are 52 years of age and sparsely played through.
The original owner was a hobbyist, so he rarely played. Enjoy and Peace be with you.
