Up for sale, a 2002 Fender Jazzmaster '62 reissue electric guitar in excellent condition and perfect working order. This Jazzmaster embodies the quality craftsmanship associated of the Japanese line of Fender instruments, and this model is rarely seen outside its country of origin, as it was only designed for sale within Japan! Although officially designated the JM66, the features of this Jazzmaster are actually associated with a '62 reissue, with dot inlay on the slab rosewood neck, a "Spaghetti" logo, and Strat style knobs. A textbook example of everything we love about the Jazzmaster, the instrument has plenty of twang and sparkle on tap, with a range of powerful and defined tones from the two single coil pickups, and warm, wooly sounds when switched to the rhythm circuit on the guitar's lower body horn. Weighing in at 8lbs 2oz, this is a substantial feeling and resonant Jazzmaster too! Setup to perfection here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar where we specialize in Fender Offset instruments, this Jazzmaster is dialed in and ready for the stage and studio with fresh 10-46 strings. The vintage amber tinted maple neck has a comfortable medium C shaped profile with nicely rounded shoulders and a smooth gloss finish. The nut has the traditional Fender 1 5/8" width and the slab rosewood fretboard has a rich, stripey grain pattern and dot inlay. The scale length is a full 25 1/2", and the fretboard has a vintage Fender spec 7 1/4" radius. The frets are in great shape, showing virtually no wear as they were recently leveled and crowned. The truss rod is responsive and the neck is straight with ideal action and no buzzing or dead spots anywhere on the fretboard. The headstock sports an Pre-CBS style "Spaghetti" Jazzmaster logo, with Kluson style tuning machines which turn smoothly and hold pitch well. All of the electronics work as they should, and the wiring and pickups are stock. The vibrato unit works smoothly, and the chrome on the bridge and vibrato shines like new. The gloss three-tone sunburst finish, tortoise pickguard, and white plastic parts are particularly clean, with only a few light finish scratches and tiny dings on the guitar as a whole. The "Crafted in Japan" designation and "P" prefix serial number are present at the heel of the neck just above the neck plate. Cosmetically, this guitar shows some light, honest playwear, with some buckle rash (not through the finish) on the back, as well as an assortment of smaller finish nicks and dings. There are also a few small finish chips along the treble side lower bout back edge of the body. This JM66 Jazzmaster from Japan is a rare and very well cared for example of a desirable model that adheres to vintage Fender specs! The original padded Fender gigbag and vibrato arm are included.
