Stunning new hand built Brazilian Rosewood vintage Martin D-35 style dreadnought guitar. Luthier built from Martin old stock Brazilian Rosewood back/sides and a 40 year old redwood top. Each of my guitars is a hand crafted work of art, built in the USA using simple tools, old world methods, and only the finest solid woods and materials, and no two are ever the same. This particular guitar was built from Brazilian Rosewood Martin D-35 stock from the 60's, same as the most sought after pre-war Martins. Brazilian Rosewood of this quality is nearly impossible to find and is very expensive. The top is very tight grain redwood that was cut 40 years ago. The bindings are Bloodwood, the fretboard is old master-grade Gabon Ebony with MOP markers, the bridge, bridge plate and headstock are Brazilian Rosewood. You won't find this combination of wood anywhere unless you have a guitar custom built and pay over $5K (look at what a Martin Brazilian Rosewood sells for! This is a steal at this price). Hand scalloped adirondack spruce bracing (X-braced, tap tuned), bone nut and saddle and bridge pins, hand rubbed nitrocellulouse lacquer finish, open back vintage style tuners. Nut is 1 3/4", bridge pins are 2 1/4" spacing. The neck is one-piece Mahogany and the set is just about perfect. Sounds and plays as good as it looks - fantastic tone, volume and sustain. The Redwood top along with the Brazilian Rosewood gives this guitar a great tone - you get the power of spruce with the warmth of Cedar, and the "extra" tone element that you only hear in a Brazilian guitar. Also listed on local CL - if you are in the Detroit area, come play it - you won't be disappointed. I'm pretty sure that the first person with cash in hand that comes and plays this guitar will leave with it. I only make a few guitars per year and spend many, many hours on each one. I'm letting it go cheap because I'm moving and could use the money. Will include a new case for shipping.I realize that buying a guitar on-line is not ideal - you really need to see the quality of materials used, the craftsmanship of the build, and most of all you need to play it and hear the tone.
