It is a real Tokai. It has the Tokai model number and guarantee label inside the body. "I purchased it from a fellow that was an instrument distributor from New Jersey. I've had great luck with Tokai instruments in the past and I loved 6120's so I bought it. It was far superior to the new Gretsch that I had at the time! He told me that is was a prototype (1 of 12?) , something like that. Tokai apparently decided that it was to expensive and time consuming to produce so they decided not too. Good thing for Gretsch. That's really about all I know other than it's a guitar that I'd be proud to play anywhere, any time. It sounds great, looks great, and plays great. If you like Tokai's, it's a great piece to have in your collection."
