1955 SML Strasser Marigaux Rev D Gold Medal Design Alto Saxophone 1955 SML Strasser Marigaux Rev D Gold Medal Design Alto Saxophone Confused by the title SML Strasser Marigaux Rev D Gold Medal Design Alto Saxophone? Well, let us clear it up for you! This is considered by the serial number, 14,678, a Rev D model Alto Saxophone which was made in 1955. From research, other than the “Gold Modal” Logo on the bell and perhaps some more intricate bell engraving like on the gold plated versions, this saxophone has all the features of the later introduced Gold Medal models from SML. Some of the features includes: Removable neck lock Individual screw adjustments Thumb/set screw G# Adjustment Screw adjustment felts Rolled tone holes Rocking thumb rest Since this is such a late made Rev D Model, and it is so close in number to the 15,000 “Gold Medal” series it is easy to consider this an SML Rev D Gold Medal Design Saxophone. This one in particular has the original two tone finish, gold lacquer with nickel plated keys. The neck is original and is in very good condition overall. For the most part, the pads look good and should work as is, but you may want to play it and have your tech make any changes you want. The Low Eb key guard needs to have one foot soldered back on. We left it as is so the new owner can have it looked at. The bell lip also has had a repair done in the past where it was bent down. Comes with the original end plug and in the original case.
