- Tone/Volume/SplitRecently restored by Steve Klein (and shipping to you from his shop in Sonoma), this early, small bodied Klein Electric (#033) is one-of-a kind.  We’ll include the original hard shell case, or an original gig bag (photos at end) that has the Klein Logo on the pocket (also one of a kind). In 1990, I handed a custom foam-green PRS guitar back to Paul (Reed Smith) so that I could commission this guitar from Steve.  He and I were both inclined (he by experience, and me by research) to build a solid spruce electric with a solid rosewood neck based on his new ergonomic design.  I traveled to Sonoma to select the wood, and through a cascade of wacky synchronous moments I ended up spending two years as his assistant (1991-1993).The day this guitar was delivered it was played by Pat Metheny after his show at Wolftrap Farm Park in Vienna, Virginia.  Needless to say, it was not his style, but he suggested I talk to Mick Goodrick.  Ultimately I convinced Mick (another story) to sell his first electric guitar to commission a Klein.  In the end I believe we built him two. It’s been with Steve (you can see his reflection in some of the photos) since last fall… it’s been to a few shows (including the most recent NAMM show) and was apparently in a photo-shoot as well - so you may have seen it.  It has normal wear and tear, but it all set up (by Steve) and ready to go!
