Up for sale, a 2008 Fender Telecaster '62 reissue in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This "Crafted in Japan" Telecaster is a rare and discontinued model, meant only for the Japanese domestic market, and features a gorgeous Lake Placid Blue finish accented by a mint green pickguard. Officially model TL62-US, this guitar comes with a pair of stock Fender Custom Shop black bobbin single coils, which have comparable output to genuine vintage pickups with plenty of sparkle and twang. The neck pickup is very smooth and round, while retaining a certain cut and focus in the low end, while the middle position has a balanced, full sound that's ideal for rhythm work. Of course the bridge position is easily identifiable for shimmer, snap, and grit, and the perfect pairing for an overdriven tube amp. The guitar weighs in at 7lbs 12oz and has a crisp, clear acoustic voice. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Tele is strung with 10-46 strings and has low, slinky action. The one-piece maple neck profile has a quintessential medium C shape that borders on the chunkier side of things. The neck profile has generous shoulders and a bit more depth in the higher registers of the fretbaord, along with a smooth ambered gloss finish that highlights the prominent grain and light figuring in the maple. The slab rosewood fretboard boasts Fender's traditional 7 1/4" fretboard radius, with a 1 5/8" nut and vintage style fretwire. These frets show notable wear beneath the G and B strings on frets 1-10, with lighter flattening of the crowns until roughly the octave. All strings play cleanly in all positions without buzzing or dead spots, and the intonation is solid as well. On the headstock, the Kluson-style Gotoh tuning machines turn smoothly and work as they should. All of the stock electronics work as intended, and the chrome hardware is very clean. The "Pat. Pending" bridge plate and finely grooved metal saddles are consistent with 1962 Fender spec too. Cosmetically, this guitar has been well cared for, showing one spot of light, targeted buckle rash central to the back which doesn't go through the finish, as well as a few tiny stray dings around the edges of the body. The color is officially abbreviated "OLB," which stands for "Old Lake Placid Blue." As such, the finish is intentionally a slightly more icy shade of Lake Placid that looks very stately and contrasts nicely with the mint pickguard. With Fender Japan no longer producing this model, this is a rare chance to get a guitar made only for the Japanese domestic market. Overall, this is a great Tele with a rare custom color finish and a professional setup from our techs here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar.A gigbag is included.
