Prior to NAMM 2017, Softube announced a new update to the Console 1 mixing controller. It looked pretty similar to the previous Console 1 in terms of controls, but the new Console 1 Mk II is compatible with the Universal Audio plug-ins in addition to the Softube line of mixing plug-ins. The Console 1 is a control surface that you connect to your studio machine to give you hands-on control of EQ, compressor, gate, volume and pan on all your tracks. Keep reading to find out if the updated hardware is for you.The Softube Console 1 hardware lets you control all the key mixing functions of a traditional hardware mixing console, but at a compact size for home studios and at a dramatically cheaper cost. The Console 1 Mk II is now even cheaper than before and after using it for an extended period of time at NAMM, I can say that the build quality has also improved. Softube made the previous Console 1 hardware units in the Sweden office, but the demand was so high that the units would constantly sell out according to the Softube team. The new units are produced by manufacturing professionals rather than software developers, so the improved build quality at a reduced price is a welcome improvement for the Console 1 Mk II. The Console 1 software has the sound of the legendary Solid State Logic SL 4000 E console (which is probably the most used console in the history of music recording), so the included Softube plug-in emulations sound excellent when mixing tracks on the Console 1. It would be nice to see compatibility will more plug-in developers such as Slate Digital and NUGEN Audio, but the Console 1 is a must for anyone who’s a fan of the Softube plug-ins.Our prices contain VAT (23%).
