Up for sale is an Early 1966 Fender Coronado II. Serial # 500681. The neck date is 10 April 66 B. This is one of the earliest Coronados based on Serial # and features. According to an article in Fretted Americana, "the serial number range 501282 to around 503000 were shipped between Septembet 1966 and January 1967." The serial # on this one pre-dates those cited in the article. This Coronado II is in good condition with some minor isses. 1-The screws for the neck pickup are not original. 2-screws on the pickguard are Fender but not original to the guitar. 3- Chips on the bases of three of the knobs. 4- several small nicks/chips on top by F-hole near the knobs. 5- two chips dead center on back. 6- one of the adjusters on the bridge has been replaced with a nickel that was drilled and tapped. Finish is fine otherwise. Neck is fully bound in white same as F-holes. Body bound in the Zipper Style binding only found on very early models. No plastic surrounds under pickups, also only on early models. Electronics function properly. 1 three way switch, two DeArmond pickups, Tone and Volume control for each pickup. Been stored a while so could use a professional setup. It comes with the original Victoria Luggage Case built specifically for Coronados. The case has a replacement handle. The exterior has wear and a couple of small tears. Interior is in good shape. Tuned last night and played it. Sounds good! Check the photos carefully! Happy bidding!
