Looks like a TL II...but that's just the frame, look inside. We've installed a Tim Campbell CT-12 capsule, which is the only substitute that I believe is a working replacement for the now unavailable CK-12 Mic. guru Klaus Heyne has stated that Tim Campbell in Denmark is the only guy who has come close to perfectly duplicating the original CK-12, and I think he is correct. I own 2 AKG 414EB silvers which have the original CK-12 brass capsules. I upgraded a pair of 414-BULS with Tim's CT-12 capsules, and WOW! Why buy a vintage mic. with questionable capsule condition or longevity when you can buy a newer mic, with more quiet electronics, for less money?Mic.s with this capsule have become my go-to mic.s for grand piano and female vocals. Also sounds great on male vocals...ask Sting! I've used these on just about everything, even as a stereo pair at a symphonic concert. Mic.s with this capsule have NEVER let me down. I have a file available (female vocal a ca pella) of this mic. through a Neve Portico 5012 preamp.
"Now, vintage AKG CK12-based mics, especially the C414E & C414EB (and of course, original C12, C12A & C12B plus the rarely seen C412!!) were frequently my favorites on female vocals. Of course, I mean the ones with original brass capsules, not the Teflon junk they keep trying to "improve". (Shelly Yakus, engineer)I have removed the internal screen mesh because I think the high frequency response is better without it...sounds a little more open. I am including the screens in case the buyer wants to restore them. (easy change) I suggest just using a good popper stopper with the mic. as it is.
Comes with a Shure A53 donut shock mount and the original AKG case. Please forward any questions.Get the AKG C-12/ELA 251 sound on a budget...buy this mic!
