Up for sale is a Custom Bach model 183 Flugelhorn in good condition. I built this horn as a fun project and I considered keeping it but tax season is here and being self employed is expensive. This instrument is in great condition and plays very well. The valves move well and slides all move very well. As for the aesthetic condition of the horn, it has one or two little tiny dings on it but is otherwise in great condition. Non of this effects the playability of the horn and it all can be seen in the pictures. This instrument has a custom finish that I developed many years ago and love to use on custom built jazz horns. Its sort of a cross between a patina and brush finish I think. regardless it looks great and always keeps a bit of a sparkle even if you don't whip down your horn after playing it.
As the professional observer might be able to see, this isn't a factory built model 183. This was custom build for fun and I thought someone might really want a horn like it. The bell, leadpipe tapper, front bow, waterkey, and braces are all Bach Factory parts from the 183 Bach Stradivarius trumpet. The Valve block and slides are not Bach valves as I believe that bach makes some of the worst valves in the industry. These valves are the same ones used on the "Wild Thing by flip oaks" and are made of stainless steel. The machine work was done SO much better on this horn than what Bach puts out. This instrument is pure metal as the lacquer has been removed, and may have to be whipped down well every few months, if played often. The fingerprints should also be wiped off after playing. This trumpet comes with a mouthpiece in good condition.
