This violin bow is an authentic example of the work of W.E. Hill and Sons of London, period of 1930-1935, Model #5397. the shaft is of Pernambuco wood, dark reddish-brown in color, octagonal in shape. the head is mounted with a silver plate. the frog, the original, is of tortoise shell, medium pearl eyes surrounded by silver rings. the screw button, also the original, is solid silver, small pattern. The bow is in very good condition. Weight, in ounces, 2 1/8 + 3 gr. Length, 28 9/16"This bow was appraised by Bein and Fushi of Chicago in 2010 and assigned a value of $8500.00This bow is not for sale outside of the U.S. due to the difficulty of shipping an item composed of tortoise shell.
