The DURGA alto has a big, rich, and contemporary sound. It is both powerful and modern, but due to its unique chamber, it can also play amazing ballads.It has a special version of our True Large Chamber which adds an Inverted-Power-Ring™, giving it the full sound inherent in our True Large Chamber AND extra power to cut through. The uniquely designed baffle transitions into the chamber with deeply rounded inner side walls. Large chambers have been widely explored in the history of tenor mouthpieces, but very little has been done with alto mouthpieces, until now. Theo Wanne’s new True Large Chamber alto mouthpieces are breaking new ground, and opening up a whole new world for the alto saxophone. The DURGA3 Alto is Hard Rubber. The DURGA3 has a straight-step baffle, with a slight roll-over built in to give extra 'kick'. This helps match the normal 'ring' found in metal mouthpieces.
The DURGA3 alto is now being used on tour with Ringo Starr (Warren Ham) and Prince (Adrian Crutchfield) as well as by such Jazz Superstars as Nelson Rangell!
