A fine & rare antique french "Virtuose" violin after Stradivari made by JTL circa 1900.A very fine antique french violin made in the JTL workshops circa 1900 in Mirecourt. The violin bears a "Stradivarius 1721" label and is from the "Virtuose" series, which was the highest and most expensive level of Thibouville-Lamy at the time, and are quite hard to find. The top is made of a single piece of spruce, and shows regular grain lines widening to the edges. The back is made of two parts of wonderfully flamed maple, the curl slightly descending from the center joint. The ribs, neck and head are of the same wood, and original to the instrument. The violin was made in copy at the time, and shows a beautiful orange-brown antiqued oil varnish on a golden ground, also entirely original, and in a perfect condition. The violin is in a rare mint condition, without any crack and very few signs of use.The violin has been entirely revised and set-up, including a set of heart shaped rosewood and ebony pegs in the baroque style, a rosewood tailpiece with bone fret, the matching chinrest, a Despiau bridge and Thomastik Dominant new strings set. The violin is guaranteed 100% authentic. On the inside back can be found the original labels of the Thibouville-Lamy workshops, "Copie de Antonius Stradivarius Cremonensis faciebat anno 1721 AS" along with the "Virtuose" series stamp (a singing bird standing on a violin). At the opposite near the sound post position can be found the fire branded "D" letter, which was put in the better JTL instruments.Dimensions are the following :LOB : 360 mm.Upper bouts : 167 mm.Middle bouts : 120 mm.Lower bouts : 209 mm.The instrument comes with a new rectangular case of quality.
