There are few complete kits like this remaining. They were purchased by me on eBay 2009 from a church and used infrequently. If you price the individual drums in existence you will find this drum complete kit a bargain and listed well over selling price. After doing a lot of research I have identified this vintage drum set as being made in Monroe, North Carolina in about 1984. The condition is pristine with minor scratches only on the left top of the bass drum wrap due to the tom-tom and rear bass drum rim from the pedal. The black and white badge and hardware are some of the clues.
The drums have inner Maple shells and the hardware is triple chrome done in those days. The Rocker lugs do not pit and have well rounded corners and known as Strata that sell for several thousand today used. Rocker counter-hoops are thicker than many current counter-hoops on most drums today providing a distinct rim shot click sound. The tom drum heads were updated to Evans Genera G2. The bass drum heads are Remo and the kick head is clear and original. This is my practice kit and not used for gigs. This kit comes with a 6” deep chrome metal snare shown separately and not the snare pictured. It is sold without the thrown or cymbals, but includes some cymbal stands as described; This Rocker 5 Piece Maple Drum Kit consists of the following:22 x 14 Bass Drum with tom mounts 12 x 8 Tom13 x 9 Tom16 x 16 Floor Tom with legs14x 6 Chrome 8 Lug Metal SnareLudwig Hi-Hat StandLudwig Snare StandLudwig Cymbal StandThe following was taken from the internet on the vintage drum guide on Ludwig_rockers:• Timeline as follows.....• The Rocker Series from 1984 - 1994 had 4-ply shells with clear lacquer inside.• The Rocker-II-Series from 1984 - 1994 had 4-ply shells with coated grey lacquer inside.• The Rocker Series from 1994 - 1998 was Taiwan-made and inferior with pearl-type tom holders.• From 1996 on the Rocker Series was updated.
