I just bought this and haven't even had time to bond, but got notice of closure of my studio, so I'm forced to clear all my guitars, even though I planned on this one becoming my new number one. Gutted to sell this as it is very vibrant but a bit stiff, so if you like 57's with quartersawn necks like the Eric Johnson model, this might be your keeper!Here's the original blurb - I may kill this listing as I have yet to really even put this guitar up against my current number one. Note that this series are modded AV's, which already list for 1.5 K, so you are looking at an incredible deal, especially with the never ending price increase from Fender...This is a Fender USA 50's Vintage Hot Rod in Nitrocellulose Fiesta Red purchased from Mansons in 2014.
The guitar cost £1550.00 and is not made any more.
The neck was good but very narrow and pushing the E strings over the edge of the fingerboard was far to easy.
Having previously imported a Warmouth neck for another Strat I knew this would sort the problem (which it did) so one was ordered with the following spec.One piece maple quatersawn with CBS headstock (for better sustain) all finished in a lovely vintage tint gloss.
Stevie Ray Vaughan assymetrical contour with 10-16 inch compound radius fingerboard fitted with stainless steel 6105 frets and Tusk XL nut.
Gotoh Magnum Lock Vintage Tuners.Apart from the neck the Strat is completely standard with the following spec.Body Finish: Gloss Nitrocellulose Lacquer
Body Material: Ash
Position Inlays: Black Dot
Scale Length: 25.5" (64.8 cm)
Bridge Pickup: Texas Special Single-Coil
Middle Pickup: American Vintage '56 Single-Coil
Neck Pickup: American Vintage '59 Single-Coil
Pickup Switching: 5 Position Blade + S1 switch in volume control
Bridge: 2-Point Synchronized Tremolo with Vintage-Style Stamped Steel Saddles
Control Knobs: Aged White Plastic
Pickguard: 1-Ply WhiteI retired in 2011 and this guitar has only been played and kept in a bedroom.
There are some pick marks on the bass side of the body and pickguard (shown in photo) otherwise it's in excellent condition with no chips or dents.
The assymetrical neck is superbly comfortable and a joy to play with spot on intonation.
Tuning is extremely stable thanks to the teflon impregnated Tusk XL nut.
For shipping the guitar will be securely packed in it's Fender hard case inside a cardboard guitar box.
