This sampler is so rare, it's been argued that it doesn't even exist. After Yamaha purchased Sequential Circuits, it's been said the A7000 was an attempt at making a better Prophet 3000. It seems like it was targeted for the American market but never actually released. It's unclear how many ever really sold or if the examples out there are just prototypes. Well, here it is. It works great. This A7000 is maxed out a 64MB of ram, has the standard 3.5" floppy and the optional 230MB Magneto Optical drive along with 8 unopened rewritable 230MB MO disks. Instead of a noisy hard drive, I've installed a SCSI2SD. I've got the SD partitioned 2 or 4 times at about 525MB each. I have tested only using one partition but the menu allows for several SCSI IDs and it seems to recognize multiple off the SD but I have not spent much time assigning them. Most everything about this sampler is intuitive once you start learning it and I am including a manual translated from Japanese to English that can be helpful, though at times the translations don't make sense. The graphics on the hardware and all menus on the A7000 are in English. The internal power supply is a giant switching supply that operates on US 112. This is heavy, and it will be packed very well.
